Spine Surgical Fellowship for Orthopaedic or Neurosurgeons

Perth, WA
Full-Time, Permanent

Neurospine Institute is a multi-disciplinary specialist private practice providing surgical services to patients with a wide range of spine and brain disorders. Our two orthopaedic spine surgeons and two neurosurgeons undertake over 1500 open surgeries annually in the private and public healthcare systems.

We are pleased to offer two post FRACS or overseas equivalent Fellowship positions for Australian, New Zealand or overseas surgeons seeking further subspecialty training and experience principally in spine surgery.

Our surgeons Paul Taylor, Michael Kern, Andrew Miles and Greg Cunningham are highly regarded, busy and experienced trainers, each with subspecialty interests. We offer substantial exposure to Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) techniques including MISS and tubular decompression techniques, percutaneous screws, navigation techniques, LLIF, OLIF (ATP) and MISS L5/S1 ALIF, TLIF and PLIF.   Spinal deformity surgery, motion preservation techniques (TDR, DSS) and intradural surgery is also regularly seen.  The case mix is predominantly degenerative, but trauma, tumour, AIS and infective cases are frequent. Our surgeons lecture nationally and internationally at conferences, educational events and for AO Spine regularly.

Every surgical patient is enrolled in an outcomes database offering multiple research opportunities, and a research project during your time with us is highly encouraged. We offer exposure to surgery in both public and private systems, outpatient exposure and audit without an on-call commitment. Our practice incorporates perioperative physicians and spinal-focused physiotherapists ‘inhouse’.

Perth is a fantastic city to live in, and our practice locations are central. Sea, sand, food, wine, and a vibrant city life are easily accessible, and rural WA offers incredible tourism opportunities. There’s a reason why it’s said that if you go West, you may never go back…

Reasonable remuneration will be discussed with applicants directly. 6- or 12-month fellowship options are available.
