Dr Imran Narooni

Dr Imran Noorani is a UK-trained Neurosurgeon and neuroscientist. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2012, and continued along an academic training pathway in Neurosurgery given his interest in research. His early neurosurgical training was at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England, and his senior neurosurgical rotations were in the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. As part of his academic training, Imran completed a Clinical PhD at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge leading research into the role of EGFR mutations in brain tumours using novel in vivo models and genetic screens. Alongside his senior neurosurgery registrar training, he also did postdoctoral clinical research in the Francis Crick Institute (London) on brain tumour genetics using human tissues for which he was awarded the prestigious CRUK therapeutic catalyst award.

Having completed the FRCS in Neurosurgery (Royal College of Surgeons, England) in 2024, his clinical neurosurgery interests are in oncology / skull base, and spine surgery. He is enthusiastic about starting the Spine Fellowship at the Neurospine Institute here in Perth, Australia in order to develop skills in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery.
