Our reputable healthcare organization, Neurospine Institute WA, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychologist with a special interest in pain to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations to understand patients’ pain experiences, psychological factors, and their impact on overall well-being.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patients, focusing on pain management and enhancing psychological resilience.
  • Provide psychological interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, and other approaches, to help patients cope with and manage their pain effectively.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including surgeons, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure integrated care and holistic treatment for patients with pain conditions.
  • Conduct research and contribute to the development of new interventions and strategies for pain management.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on psychological aspects of pain management and strategies for enhancing their overall well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research, developments, and best practices in the field of pain psychology.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid professional license or certification to practice psychology.
  • Specialisation or postdoctoral training in pain psychology, chronic pain management, or related field is desirable.
  • Proven experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for patients with pain conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of various psychological treatment modalities, including CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches, as they relate to pain management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest research and advancements in pain psychology.
